      Base pay range

      $120,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

      Summary of Position

      The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, implementing, and maintaining electrical and automation systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and innovative control solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in PLC programming, SCADA system development, and water/wastewater process knowledge. This is a full-time, exempt position.

      Objectives of this Role

      Design, program, implement, and maintain electrical and automation systems for water and wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.

      Position Responsibilities

      Programming & Development

      • Design and develop PLC programs using platforms like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
      • Configure and develop SCADA systems such as Wonderware/Aveva, Ignition, GE iFIX, or ClearSCADA.
      • Implement HMI applications, including screen design, data visualization, and alarms.
      • Develop control logic for water/wastewater treatment processes.

      System Integration & Testing

      • Conduct system integration, testing, and commissioning.
      • Perform FAT and SAT with clients.
      • Ensure seamless integration of PLCs, SCADA, and field devices.

      Troubleshooting & Maintenance

      • Diagnose and resolve issues in hardware, software, and communication networks.
      • Support system maintenance and upgrades.

      Documentation & Compliance

      • Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

      Collaboration & Training

      • Work with project teams and stakeholders.
      • Provide training on SCADA and control systems.

      Minimum Requirements

      Experience: 5+ years in PLC and SCADA programming for water/wastewater projects.

      Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science, or related.

      Certifications: PLC or SCADA certifications preferred. ISA CAP or related credentials are a plus. Water/wastewater training is desirable.

      Technical Skills

      • Proficiency in PLC platforms and SCADA systems.
      • Knowledge of water/wastewater processes and equipment.
      • Familiarity with communication protocols and cybersecurity standards.
      • Experience with databases like MS SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

      Interpersonal Skills

      • Problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
      • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.

      Working Conditions

      • Combination of office and site work, including site visits.
      • Travel may be required.
      • Flexible hours, including weekends/evenings.
      • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
