- Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.
- The Plumber will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems carrying water and steam
- Replace or mend broken pipes including clearing clogged drains on sinks and toilets
- Repair or replace plumbing fixtures
- Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe to the required angle, using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters and pipe treading machines
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, screws, bolts, or soldering and brazing equipment
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, or fixtures such as sinks and toilets
- Ability to snake out sanitary lines and water piping systems.
- Locate and mark the position of pipes for installation using instruments such as rulers or levels
- Perform preventative maintenance on all base building and critical equipment, which includes but is not limited to assembling all tools, supplies, and instruments necessary to complete the task
- Perform work with a minimum amount of disruption and conduct immediate cleanup of the work area
- Responsible for reporting problems or malfunctions
- Maintain tools and order supplies as required for installation and repairs
- Keep logs, document equipment repairs, close work orders, track time accurately in reports, and provide timely and constant communication with the facility maintenance management
- Comply with department policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous waste materials
- Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 years of plumbing experience, preferably within a healthcare or institutional setting
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- Available to work flexible hours and or on-call shifts as needed.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in crawl spaces
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including but not limited to, hot, cold, outdoors, dry humid areas, heights, and congested areas
- Knowledgeable in the use of tools and machinery required for this position
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Available to work flexible hours and or on-call shifts as needed.
