      Job Summary We are currently seeking to recruit a Plumber to join our highly dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations in Simberi Island in New Ireland Province. The Role Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor; the plumber is responsible for all aspects of Plumbing work with primary focus on safety, environment, and development in a safe and timely manner. This is an exciting time to join Simberi & St Barbara as we embark on our “Building Brilliance” journey to transform the business and deliver sustainable value. This is a FIFO position; the roster is a 15/13 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen/Buka/Madang/Goroka/Alotau/Wapenamanda/Popondetta & Hoskins or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply) Key responsibilities include: Technical accountabilities * Maintain and repair damaged/ broken pipes, and clogged drains, Install underground sanitary, drainage, and water supply piping systems * Inspect plumbing systems in mining facilities to identify issues and initiate repairs. * Utilize hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for tanks, pumps, or other plumbing system around the mine site. * At least general understanding of other construction trades * Assist pipefitters in the layout, assembly, and installation of pipe fixtures for water and air systems. * Collaborate with general contractors, and other professionals Scheduling accountabilities * Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the People accountabilities * Contributing to an effective team/crew. * Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions Qualifications, skills, and experience required: * Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values * Have Plumbing Trade Qualification and Licence from recognised institution * Attained Grade 10 or 12 Certificate. * At least five years relevant work experience in mining or construction industry * Have good understanding in underground sanitary installation, drainage, and water supply piping systems. * Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, tools and equipment. * Self-motivated and disciplined with strong communication skills and the ability to effectively manage time. * A continuous improvement approach to all tasks and developing initiative and problem-solving skills. * Always prepared to accept responsibility About Us This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic and motivated team of industry professionals with considerable experience in the demands and practices of the mining industry.
