- Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~
- Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~
- Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
The main location for this position is at the Garner VA Outpatient Clinic within the Durham VA Health Care System, located in Gamer, NC. The Podiatrist performs direct medical, surgical and telehealth care in podiatry. Advanced surgical care will be completed at the Durham VA Medical Center. Duties:
The main location for this position is at the Garner VA Outpatient Clinic of the Durham VA Health Care System, located in Gamer, NC. The Podiatrist performs direct medical, surgical and telehealth care in podiatry. Travel, up to 8 days a month, may be required as surgery may be done off-site at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, NC. The incumbent must have authoritative knowledge in podiatry, preferably as evidenced by Board Certification or by Board Qualification by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery or by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. The Garner VA Podiatrist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of foot and ankle conditions through medical and surgical means, and includes the following duties and responsibilities:Requirements

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires mostly periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients/residents who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on stakeholder needs.About the company
