The Lethbridge Police Service is seeking one or more Police Officers.

      The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is currently looking to fill one or more Police Officer positions. This competition will be multi-faceted.

      To apply, Police Officer eligible applicants must:

      • Must be a Canadian citizen, or have landed Immigrant status or permanent resident status.
      • A Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
      • Current, class 5 Driver’s license.
      • Less than 5 demerits.
      • Pass the vision and hearing test.
      • Not have any criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, or any outstanding criminal or internal investigations prior to an offer of employment being made.

      Police officers will participate in the complete recruiting process and meet the same standards set out by the Police Selection and Employment Manual and provincial guidelines for recruiting.

      STEPS OF HIRING PROCESS

      The duration of the process is dependant on training, workload and a variety of other factors. All components of the selection process will be administered, scored, evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner.

      1. The Alberta Provincial Cognitive Abilities Test (APCAT) is a written test that must be completed (valid for 5 years from date of writing) prior to an applicant moving ahead in the process. To book a test date, email recruiting@lethbridgepolice.ca .

      2. Application

      a. Download the Application Form and Personal Disclosure forms (***BELOW***). Complete ALL necessary forms (Hearing & Vision test, APREP Medical Form, etc.) and save them;

      b. Along with the Application and Personal Disclosure Form, please combine all needed Supporting documents and upload them into the appropriate upload area.

      d. Application packages will be reviewed by recruiting officers prior to the APREP testing.

      3. Completion of the APREP physical abilities testing is a perquisite for this position. APREP testing will be arranged by Lethbridge Police Service.

      a. These tests will be booked through the recruiting officer after reviewing the application. Email recruiting@lethbridgepolice.ca to book a testing date.

      4. Personal Disclosure Interview

      a. After the application package is reviewed by the recruiting officer, competitive applicants will be contacted for a Personal Disclosure interview.

      5. Behavioral Descriptive Interview

      a. Given to candidates still competitive after Personal Disclosure interview;

      b. Successful candidates will move onto the next stage of the process.

      6. Integrity (truth verification Polygraph) and Psychometric testing (Psychological interview) will be scheduled.

      7. Security Clearance Check will be conducted.

      8. Background check will be conducted.

      9. Successful candidate(s) will be selected and offered the position.

      TRAINING

      • Training date yet to be determined.

      The successful candidate is required to consent to a police security clearance, which includes the voluntary completion and submission of a personal disclosure form (lifestyle questionnaire), criminal and police records check, reference checks and truth verification through polygraph examination.
