      The Police Operations Coordinator 1 position assists in overseeing, coordinating, and participating in the management of more complex and responsible clerical work for the records division or section of the Police Department. These duties frequently involve specialized procedures and skills, requiring initiative, independent reasoning, and judgment. Must be able to work shifts, weekends, holidays and change regular days off.

      The current vacancy is in the Records Department but this recruitment may be used to fill openings within other departments of MNPD.

      The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is a 24/7/365 operation. Whether you are a sworn or civilian employee, you will be responsible for the general welfare of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County. You will be responsible for ensuring optimum communications both within Metro and between Metro and the general public.       • Assist with overseeing, coordinating, and participating in clerical work for the department.
      • Assign, coordinate, and review work of others.
      • Assist with training new employees.
      • Coordinate work with other sections and divisions.
      • Recommend and devise means by which work flow and office procedures can be improved.
      • Handle the more difficult complaints and inquiries, both in person and by telephone.
      • Complete, check, and process a variety of forms and documents.
      • Sort, check, code, and file letters and documents.
      • Prepare reports for FBI and National Safety Council.
      • Use advanced data entry techniques, codes, classifies and enters various reports.
      • Communicate with the public and answer questions on matters involving departmental policy and procedure.
      • Receive payments and fines and issue receipts.
      • Assemble data and prepare reports, using word processing packages, databases, and/or spreadsheets as needed.
      • Compile and maintain various types of records, such as personnel files, budget information, and other financial documents.
      • Handle complaints and inquiries, both in person and by telephone.
      • May testify in court proceedings.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
      High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years increasingly responsible clerical experience, preferably in a public safety setting.

      ****Additional education may be considered in lieu of some experience. (1:1 Ratio)****

      LICENSES REQUIRED
      Valid Driver License

      *Upon selection, NCIC Certification must be obtained within the first six months of employment.

      Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

      Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
