      Role Summary:

      This position is responsible for testing and improving software updates, creating and improving efficient production processes at ports, and maintaining a comprehensive quality control system to ensure the highest quality standards for vehicles arriving at ports.

      In addition, the following topics are part of the Port Quality Technologist daily tasks:

      • Maintain and repair VWGoA corporate vehicles as needed; develop and document repair procedures and validate repair information.
      • Coordinate a team of employees daily or as required during peak workload times under the direction of the Supervisor.
      • Serve as the back-up for the Port Technical Quality Representative as liaison for the factories and VWGoA.
      • Manage and input any of the financial systems or reports exclusive to VWGoA employees and pertinent to VWGoA business
      • Create repair processes for internal actions
      • Define best practices for stop orders.
      • Work with PQO Engineers and Residents to resolve Flamingo Scrip Issues.

      Role Responsibilities:

      Main responsibility - Quality Engineering (80%)

      • Tests vehicles under varying conditions to determine and document cause of problems
      • Communicates problems and solutions to VWGoA/VWAG Quality departments
      • Evaluates new diagnostic systems and procedures; verifies GFF and service publications
      • Serve as the primary point of contact between VWGoA’s Bentley and Lamborghini brands and internal departments such as Engineering, After Sales, and Quality Assurance.
      • Repairs, tests, maintains, and updates VW/Audi vehicles to the latest technical level
      • Performs and evaluates repairs according to newly developed repair information
      • Provides recommendations to internal departments for modifications to repair procedures
      • Performs accurate and timely analysis of failure modes in assigned models
      • Tests and validates field fixes
      • Resolve flamingo related issues
      • Participate in EFK training to become EFK certified
      • Perform detailed analysis of failed components such as Engines, Transmission and e-machines to determine root causes.
      • Provides on-site vehicle launch support; order parts as needed
      • Prioritizes and plans testing procedure sequence
      • Develops and manufactures test fixtures and diagnostic techniques
      • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment, shop tools, and equipment necessary for stop orders
      • Maintain and update VWGoA Scan Tools
      • Alert PQO managers of any repetitive tool concerns
      • Optimize utilization of conveyor systems to maximize efficiencies
      • Miscellaneous tasks assigned by PQO manager or supervisor.

      Shop Foreman Role Responsibility (20%)

      • Expedite work orders to PQO Technicians, provide follow-up to the requestors and maintain necessary records for warranty purposes.
      • Coordinate PQO service scheduling of technicians’ time to maximize throughput
      • Assist SRT coordinator with time study scheduling & resource management
      • Manage PQOS system implementation and reporting
      • Manage parts tracking within PQO via PQOS and parts on Command systems
      • Coordinate warranty payments and re-billing with warranty department
      • Work with factory/warranty activities to schedule and complete parts evaluations

      Qualifications:

      Years of Experience:

      • 5+ Years of Audi/Volkswagen Technical Experience

      Education - Required

      • Audi/Volkswagen Technical Training
      • Master Technician Certification
      • Extensive Audi/Volkswagen Product Knowledge
      • Audi/Volkswagen Diagnostic Tools Training
      • HVE & HVT Certification or in process of obtaining

      Education - Desired:

      • Associates Degree in Automotive Technology or Automotive Certification from a reputable Technical institute
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Technology

      • Requires one of the following:
        • Master Volkswagen Technician
        • Audi Master Guild
      • Extensive Volkswagen and/or Audi product knowledge
      • Experience with VW/Audi diagnostic tools and equipment programs
      • Extensive experience using VW/Audi wiring diagrams
      • Knowledge on how to use CP Tool
      • Knowledge on how to use system42
      • Basic knowledge of flamingo script building
      • Extensive knowledge of iDEX
      • Thorough knowledge of the tools and procedures applicable to the trade, and knowledge of safety equipment
      • Some accessory installation experience

      Specialized Skills - Desired:

      • German and/or Spanish language skills
      • ASE Master Certification (Automotive and/or Paint Technician)
      • Flamingo admin access
      • Awareness of factory quality systems such as ERNA

      Work Flexibility:

      • Domestic travel required approximately 10 – 40%
      • International travel required less than 20%
      • Business travel to support launch functions as required – often requires weekend travel (approximately 5%)
