      Job summary

      Porter services comprise of operational duties associated with waste, transport, community beds team, mail, support to cleaning services and general hospital porter duty functions.

      Contribute to the provision of healthcare for the Cwm Taf University Health Board (CTUHB) by delivering a porter service which meets all organisational and legislative standards and support the Facilities Unit commitment to quality standards.

      Support the Porter Services Supervisor and Porter Team Leader in supervising the provision of Porter Services delivery that is managed from a Facilities Centre based at the hospital and ensuring a high quality service is delivered to patients, staff and visitors in accordance with service specifications. Post holder will be required to perform supplementary duties to respond to service needs and that are appropriate to the Facilities services and in line with their grade.

      To assist in developing, maintaining and promoting the highest standards of service delivery and team working practices, and helping to maintain open, effective communication. Ensure a high quality service is delivered to patients, staff and visitors.

      Main duties of the job

      Three opportunities have arisen within the Porter Services department based at Prince Charles Hospital for permanent, part time, Band 2 relief Porters.

      The Relief Porter will be required to work 3 weekly shifts of 7.5 hours. Flexibility is essential for this role.

      Relief shifts may require the Porter to cover shifts starting and finishing at differing times within Prince Charles Hospital or at other hospitals.

      The role covers the full range of hospital Porter duties and typically this will involve:

      • Patient transfers.
      • The collection and delivery of specimens.
      • Medical gas cylinder delivery and collection.
      • Medical device transfers.
      • Waste management duties.
      • Postroom duties.
      • Driving duties.
      • Mortuary transfers.
