      Job Description

      What is the opportunity?
      As a Portfolio Analyst in our Asset Based Lending team, within Royal Bank’s Corporate Client Group, you will bring your strong financial and risk analysis skills to the table as you become a valuable member of an established and dynamic team.

      You will be responsible for the management of an assigned portfolio of commercial and mid-market Asset Based Lending (ABL) accounts, by providing in-depth knowledge of the collateral and lending positions of their clients. You will also be responsible for ensuring credit facilities are in compliance with agreements and policies, providing prompt responses to requests from customers and other RBC units, ensuring bank systems reflect the terms as authorized and assist in the identification of deteriorating risk situations.

      What will you do?

      • Coordinate and carry out the collateral management and credit transaction component of an assigned portfolio of Asset Based Lending (ABL) accounts

      • Ensure timely, accurate completion of client uploads to ensure collateral values are correct and to determine client funding availability

      • Ensure availability is accurately calculated, mitigating undue risk by ensuring proper reserves and ineligibles are taken

      • Monitor client's compliance to the terms and conditions of loan and other agreements, assist in completing annual reviews of facilities

      • Ensure periodic and at least quarterly monitoring of all borrowers and identify trends in the financial condition of accounts

      • Complete the analysis of the monthly reporting provided by the borrower to ensure client is operating within ABL requirements

      • Preparation of borrower risk rating submissions for new and existing commercial accounts

      • Assist with the preparation of annual credit reviews where required

      • Responsible for data integrity of accounts in the assigned portfolio, ensuring bank systems are correct

      • Assist in ensuring all supporting documentation is provided in timely fashion

      • Investigate and provide comments daily to Portfolio Management on credit excesses

      • Identify and be alert for revenue opportunities that can be taken to Portfolio Management for consideration

      What do you need to succeed?

      Must-have:

      • Minimum Undergraduate Degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or other quantitative fields

      • Demonstrated strong Financial Analysis and Accounting skills through past roles within Financial Services or Internship/ Co-op experiences

      • Strong Excel Skills

      • Highly detail oriented skill sets coupled with strong organizational skills

      • Ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands from various groups with which ABL interacts

      Nice-to-have:

      • CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designation (or working towards)

      • Prior experience in commercial banking or ABL market

      • Strong understanding of loan agreements, field examinations, appraisals and financial reporting

      • French Bilingual (Fluency)
