Department Overview
Operations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Work Management & Resource Planning, Execution Support, Business Operations & Process Improvement, PG&E Academy, and Enterprise Public Works. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 1,000 coworkers.
The Program and Project Governance Department supports Operations by ensuring balanced work plans, strategic change control, efficient work progression, and best practices in program and project management.
The Portfolio Management & Integrated Change Control function works with line of business portfolio managers, cross-functional teams and leaders to manage change control of $12 billion budget and expectations toward completion of our annual Electric and Gas Operations work plans, across various capital and expense budgets, while seeking to eliminate risk and improve operations.
Position Summar y
This position will monitor Electric and Gas functional areas annual and/or multi-year approved budget targets and work plan portfolio This position will have responsibility for supporting the Electric and Gas Operations Change Control process and related activities, as part of a team of several colleagues. Our dynamic budget management activities entail coordination of change requests with clients, collaboration with Business Finance, Regulatory, Enterprise risk management, Investment Planning and other cross-functional partners for context and prioritization for managing budget and work plan changes to the portfolio. This position will also support developing process and system improvements through partnering with our Technology Integration team.
Conducts research, data analysis, and reporting in support of business decision making strategy and operations. Participates in business process improvement, quality control and other initiatives. Develops, manages, and coordinates performance and quality assessment, business process re-engineering, change management, communication, and training.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $ 90,000
Bay Area Maximum: $ 136,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $ 86,000
California Maximum: $129,000
Job Responsibilities
Supports the monthly governance cycle / process for the Electric & Gas Operations portfolio including but not limited to financial and data analysis and reporting, facilitation of meetings and exchanges with Finance partners, monthly variance commentary, and presentation of the final assessment data to executive leadership.
Monitors, prepares regular reports, and presents status to senior management. Organizes and leads cross functional stakeholder meetings to review analysis of work plan and target changes. Discusses and recommends solutions.
Performs data analytics using data in SAP and other portfolio change control systems, summarizes, and uses dashboards and metrics to help interpret the data for informed decision making in operations. Presents findings and recommendations to leaders.
Performs analysis on data models requiring customized reports and data.
Drives annual budget adherence for portfolio programs by administering the financial change request process and ensuring change requests are submitted, reviewed, and revised in a timely manner. Reviews risks (overspend) and opportunities (underspend) and evaluates probability to advise on overall impacts to the portfolio financial assessment (end of year forecast).
Works collaboratively with investment Planning, Line of Business Portfolio Managers, and Various Programs to administer a financial offset / trigger / lever process to deprioritize lowest priority spending and support a dynamic but balanced budget. Applies subject matter expertise to wide-ranging planning processes and challenges. May be assigned to work on annual, long-range plans, or a combination.
Develops recommendations regarding new or better reports or tools based on assessment of stakeholder needs, trends, strategic direction, and organizational priorities.
May lead special initiatives around portfolio management and change controls and may assist with some IT related enhancement discussions. Collaborates with cross-functional team members on most effective field rollout of process, tool and/or reporting changes.
Will support PG&E emergency operations activations by training for and performing emergency response duties at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), regional, or local emergency centers.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, technical field or equivalent related experience.
• 5 years of total related experience such as integrated or strategic portfolio/work planning in an electric utility or related field
