- This is an exciting, niche role for some-one who is looking to progress and develop within a dynamic working environment focussing on digital delivery of capacity
- Full time position, working 5 days a week, with the opportunity to receive training and support towards professional qualifications
- Working with a small, fun and collaborative team in our London office
- Business development with relevant brokers / broking teams and their clients.
- Maintaining and developing strong internal and external relationships.
- Management of carriers / capacity providers.
- Development/refinement of strategy per class.
- Portfolio review and analysis - for playback to capacity providers, broking teams.
- Adherence to underwriting parameters of various binding authorities.
- Ownership of data quality for respective LOBs.
- Work with Business Analysts to outline requirements for underwriting platform, rules engine etc. to improve underwriting process and data quality.
- Continuous review of underwriting requirements and processes, with a view towards streamlining, improving, and automating.
- Referral point for wider underwriting team on complex / non-standard risks.
- Training & knowledge transfer to wider team.
- Self-motivated and service oriented
- Possess technical curiosity and an innovative mindset with an appetite for researching and utilizing new technology trends and a passion to automate repetitive tasks
- Problem solving and analytical skills with excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Good attention to detail with ability to work autonomously as required
- Able to work effectively and lead a team
- Able to work to deadlines. Will be flexible when required
- Able to build key business relationships with stakeholders
- 5+ years broking or underwriting experience in relevant class of business.
- In-depth knowledge of London market and MGA model.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Understanding of Smart Follow space.
- Keen interest in how data and technology can be leveraged to transact business efficiently and improve underwriting decision-making.
- ACII preferred.

About Rethink
Rethink is a dynamic and fast-paced place to work. We are a Managing General Agent (MGA) and we use our digital underwriting platform to provide smart follow capacity for brokers. As well as underwriting, we also provide data and reporting analytics and manage our own tech build. We are working on several projects throughout Howden Group to enable automation and ingestion into the underwriting data models we have.

What you’ll be doing
The Portfolio Underwriter, reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, will be responsible for managing the broker, client and carrier relationships for a variety of insurance lines.
Ensuring that all business is professionally handled and the underwriting team are kept up to date with all new opportunities as well as ongoing training and development within their focussed lines of business. Accurate and compliant application of underwriting guidelines and business processes ensuring accurate data interpretation, recording, management and reporting. Coordinating with the wider Rethink team in all aspects of the business including development of best practice, process improvements, client relationships, quality control, data governance, workflow management, and working with the tech development team with regards to design and implementation of all system requirements.
