Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Post-CCT Fellow in Paediatric Neurodisability & Neurorehabilitation to make a lasting difference to children with brain injury and neuro-disability. This would a great opportunity for anyone with CCT or equivalent training/experience who would like to pursue further experience in Paediatric Neurodisability & Neurorehabilitation prior to taking up a substantive consultant post either at The Childrens Trust or another setting.

The Childrens Trust is the largest paediatric inpatient provider of tertiary (level 1) specialised neurorehabilitation for children and young people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). As a Post-CCT Fellow, you will be a key member of the Medical Team, providing clinical care for children and young people who are admitted to The Childrens Trust for specialised neurorehabilitation.
You will receive support from Consultants in Paediatric Neurodisability, Consultant Paediatrician, and Associate Specialist in Neurodisability.
Working hours are 9am - 5pm daily, with no obligatory Out of Hours cover.

Role Requirements
To succeed in this high profile and diverse role, you must demonstrate:
Full professional GMC registration and licence to practice and an MBBS or equivalent.
Extensive experience in Paediatrics and previous experience/training in Neurodisability or Neurology.
Strong clinical skills, combined with excellent child and family focussed interpersonal skills.
A caring, supportive and can-do approach.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Casework
The timetable and job planning will be carried out with the Medical Director, bearing in mind the requirements of the organisation. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post-holder and Medical Director, three months after commencing the post, and reviewed at least annually thereafter, as part of the appraisal process.
Responsibilities may include:
Contributing to the admission of all new patients for neurorehabilitation and providing regular medical support in consultation with the childs consultant.
Day to day supervision of the children, attending regular unit meetings, arranging investigations, writing admission and discharge summaries.
Managing clinical cases with the support, and under the direction, of the consultant.
Medical ward rounds, phlebotomy, tracheostomy and gastrostomy button changes, drug charts and reports.
Attending and contributing to specialist clinics neuropsychiatry, epilepsy, orthopaedic, spinal, respiratory, audiology, ophthalmology, dental, palliative care, and splint/brace.
Management of tone including ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injections with support and under the direction of the consultant.
Devising emergency protocols.
Serve as a Member of the Emergency Response Team.
Medical Team
Support and participate at the weekly medical team meetings.
Participate in arrangements, as required by the Medical Director, e.g. timely submission of annual leave requests, study leave, etc.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, teaching sessions and journal clubs.
Participate in service development, e.g. development of policies and protocols, digitalisation of services, e.g. medical records.
