Job Description

- Candidate should possess a Doctoral degree and have a strong background in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, or a related area.
- Qualified candidates must have at least one first author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Candidates with strong experience in mass spectrometry of glycans
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and collaborative communication skills are essential.
- Previous research experience in glycosylation characterization by LC-MS and other glycan characterization methods.
- Understanding of protein chemistry and glycosylation is a plus.
- Understanding of basic pharmacokinetics of protein therapeutics.

Job DescriptionPost Doctoral Scientist – Biological Analytical Operations
Summary:
The Oceanside Structural Characterization group is looking for a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Scientist to pursue cutting-edge drug development work on therapeutic biologics.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will initiate an independent research project to study glycosylation of therapeutic antibodies. More specifically, investigate the relationships of Fab glycans, non-consensus N-glycans as well as O-glycans on pharmacokinetics and drug-like properties of antibodies. This will include looking at natural occurrences of these types of glycosylation in mammalian organisms, as well as generating glycosylation variants and testing them in vitro and in vivo models.
The selected candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment at Gilead through a 2-year term, with an option to extend an additional third year. It also provides access to world-class research facilities and the opportunity to leverage expertise and resources across multiple functional areas at Gilead.

The salary range for this position is: $109,480.00 - $141,680.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
