- Req#: 202402-104925
Combine state-of-the-art stem-cell models with advanced imaging to characterize receptor transport in brain endothelial cells.
Apply functional genomic approaches in microphysiological systems to identify novel regulators of transcytosis across the blood-brain barrier.
Collaborate with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams in pRED to develop the next-generation of BrainshuttleTM molecules.
Summarize your discoveries in impactful publications
Proficiency in using human stem cells and differentiation protocols to model brain cell types.
Outstanding track record of using gene editing methods to investigate cellular mechanisms in vitro
Advanced knowledge of light microscopy applications, including live-cell imaging and high-content imaging.
Knowledge of endocytosis and intracellular trafficking will be an advantage
The Position
At Roche Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development Organization (pRED), we believe that rapid advances in science and technology are our greatest opportunity to rethink the way we address some of the world’s most challenging unmet health needs and have an even more profound impact on patients and society.
The position
As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Neuroscience and Rare Disease Discovery and Translational Area, you will focus on an exploratory research project on intracellular transport across the Blood-Brain Barrier. Your goal will be to discover the molecular mechanisms that regulate receptor-mediated transcytosis of BrainshuttleTM antibodies from the blood into the brain.
The University of Bristol is Roche’s academic partner for this Postdoctoral Fellowship. The partnership with Academia will provide further insights on the complex pathways involved in intracellular transport.
In this position you will:
This position is sponsored by the Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme. The RPF Programme has the ambition to build and maintain the Scientific Leadership of the future and to provide leading Roche scientists with the opportunity to collaborate with talented postdoctoral researchers, and leading academic research groups, from around the world. One of the key aims is to advance basic science and technologies that will be published in top-rated, peer-reviewed scientific journals, if necessary preceded by priority patent applications.
The duration of RPF project is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. You will be based in Basel with visits at our academic partner in Bristol
You are a motivated and creative scientist with a postgraduate scientific degree in the field of Cell biology.
You also have experience and expertise in the following:You have very good interpersonal and communication skills, are able to build good working relationships, and are an outstanding teammate. Your experience and investigative attitude allow you to work independently, to design, perform, and interpret experiments, and to embark on new scientific methodologies.
You have been actively engaged in scientific research continuously since your PhD (MD or MD/PhD) and ready to start an RPF postdoctoral activity no later than 4 years after the PhD (MD or MD/PhD)
When does it start?
The start date of this fellowship is before the Summer of 2024, or on availability. Please clearly indicate your preferred starting date on your motivation letter.
All applications always need to include a CV, motivation letter, a publication list, if available, your PhD.More information about the RPF Programme: https://careers.roche.com/global/en/the-roche-postdoctoral-fellowship-programme
