  PostDoc - Molecular Biologist/Cell Biologist with strong NGS background (m/f/d)

  Bayer AG is looking for a highly motivated Molecular Biologist/Cell Biologist (m/f/d) with strong background in next generation sequencing (NGS) to join a research team in Pharma R&D. The position is based in the Life Sciences and Technology Department (LST). The position is located in Wuppertal, Germany. As a member of LST, you will closely work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and contribute to the development of innovative methods that will facilitate target and early drug discovery.

  YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate and characterize disease relevant cell lines, including plasmid design and optimization of transfection protocols
  • Design, execute and analyze NGS experiments (e.g RNA-seq, Ribo-seq, eClip)
  • Closely collaborate with data-scientists and computational biologist to ensure the quantitative analysis of the data generated
  • Develop and apply new assay formats for phenotypic and target deconvolution approaches as well as analyze data for the identification of novel drug candidates
  • Be part of an international & interdisciplinary research team closely interacting with your colleagues from the entire R&D organization of Bayer Pharma and Crop Science in the US and Europe, as well as contract research organizations
  • Strengthen the visibility of the team’s research and scientific excellence through publishing and actively engaging with the internal and external scientific community
  • Carry out project tasks independently based on agreed-on priorities and deadlines
  • Provide written reports of results and methods and present results to broad R&D research partners
  • Ensure high safety standards and company compliant action, considering laws, regulations and directives including assessment and evaluation of potential risks of all processes

  WHO YOU ARE

  • PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or a related discipline, with proven expertise in RNA biology
  • Excellent track record of productivity as well as experience in cell line engineering and handling of complex cellular systems
  • Hands on experience in NGS, preferably RNA-seq, Ribo-seq and eClip
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics sufficient to analyze RNA-seq data, knowledge of R or python is advantageous
  • Experience with CRISPR Cas tools is a bonus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven record of independent problem solving and working efficiently in a cross-functional team reaching joint goals
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary team as well as willingness to travel across research sites
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken
