      Job Summary

      The Child Mind Institute offers a one-year professional training program designed to prepare candidates for a successful career in child and adolescent psychology. The fellowship will begin as early as July 1 , 20 2 4 . Consideration will also be given to candidates who complete their pre-doctoral internship by the end of August 20 2 4 . This is an exempt position, located in our New York City headquarters, which offers a generous salary and full benefits, as well as support for attending a professional conference or continuing education training.

      The Anxiety Disorders Center is one of f ive centers that comprise the clinical treatment services of Child Mind Institute . The Center offers innovative treatment services for children and adolescents suffering from anxiety and mood disorders, as well as comorbid disorders, through several specialized treatment programs, including the Social Anxiety Program , Selective Mutism Service , and the Stress and Resilience Program for trauma . The Center’s clinicians are experts in the field in providing comprehensive clinical care using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including exposure and response prevention (ERP), Parent Child Interaction Therapy adapted for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM) and other evidence-based treatments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of our multidisciplinary group practice.

      The Anxiety Disorders Center of Child Mind Institute offers an extraordinary opportunity for a qualified clinician to receive structured postdoctoral training in a unique, innovative multidisciplinary setting . Training focuses on accurate assessment and diagnosis of presenting mental health concerns, and evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families . Clinical training and experience include conducting semi-structured clinical assessments, individual and group clinical work, didactics, participating in comprehensive individual and group supervision, providing education in the community, supervision of externs (with oversight and training in providing supervision), and exposure to research. Fellows will receive specialized training in the treatment of children and adolescents with O CD and anxiety-related disorders and also in the behavioral treatment of children with Selective Mutism. Fellows are encouraged and guided to develop areas of interest and specialization.

      As a component of the training experience, the fellow will also participate in a variety of learning experiences at the Child Mind Institute . Specifically, the fellow will attend multidisciplinary case conferences, clinical meetings with center staff, and attend lectures through our Visiting Professor Series, consisting of renowned experts in mental health. The fellow will also be given the opportunity to give presentations at schools and local community organizations. Additionally, there will also be opportunities to collaborate with website writers on specific topics for the Child Mind Institute website and with other services within the Child Mind Institute.

      The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, including experience with anxiety and mood disorders, and will have training and prior experience in using CBT interventions. The position will provide postdoctoral clinical hours and supervision needed for licensure.

      Primary Faculty

      The Anxiety Disorders Center staff includes leading clinical psychologists, social workers and mental health counselors . Center staff regularly collaborates with pediatric neuropsychologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists, and child and adolescent psychologists and other staff from our multidisciplinary clinical team.

      Qualifications

      • PhD or PsyD degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical, counseling, school- clinical, or school psychology
      • Full completion of doctoral degree by the beginning of the postdoctoral fellowship
      • Successful completion of APA-accredited internship
      • Flexibility to work hours to meet productivity goals and deadlines , including afternoon / evening hours to accommodate school schedules
      • Team player and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
      • Demonstrated professional attitude and ability to interface with senior management, clinicians and staff
