      Position Highlights

      The selected candidate will conduct research associated with the DoD-funded project "Nonlinear Oscillator Synchronization and Multi-Agent Consensus on Compact Manifolds with Novel Feedback Coupling and Complex Network Optimization." Specifically, the selected candidate will address Research Objective (RO) (2) Investigate the dynamical phenomena of orbital and cluster consensus and balancing on compact manifolds and their extension to periodic and chaotic oscillator synchronization, RO (3) Utilize strategies in feedback control theory of fractional-order and/or time-periodic feedback coupling, with or without time delay, for improving metrics for consensus and synchronization, RO (4) Investigate the optimization of various types of complex networks for given dynamics, and RO (5) Utilize the techniques developed in ROs (1-4) to investigate applications of interest to the DoD. The inclusion of higher-order interactions in complex network dynamics as well as time delay in the coupling functions will be major focuses of the candidate's work.

      Duties & Responsibilities
      • Conduct research associated with the DoD-funded project described within the Position Highlights.
      • Run computer simulations, write papers, and occasionally help with advising graduate students.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Knowledge, in nonlinear oscillator dynamics and synchronization and complex networks.
      • Skills in computer programming (preferably Matlab), written and oral communication.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Ph.D. in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or in applied mathematics, is required, as well as a record of scholarly research and publications in areas related to the position.
