      Job Description

      SUMMARY:
      Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Research Scientist is a two - year postdoctoral fellowship position aimed at investigating the relationship between music, reward and cognition in moderate-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and multiple sclerosis (MS) in the Cognition and Neurocognitive Disorders Research lab (http://sandrylab.com/). Research topics may include understanding the basic cognitive, perceptual and/or neural mechanisms that are sensitive to music and reward in persons with TBI & MS. Research investigations will include traditional cognitive psychology and/or cognitive neuroscience experimentation. Additional approaches available include structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalogram (EEG), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), eye tracking, computational modeling, and/or multimodal/simultaneous approaches. Opportunities are also available to contribute to ongoing projects in the lab including understanding the cognitive and neural contributions to memory impairment and development of new cognitively inspired neuropsychometric tools.

      Resources are available to cover research expenses and professional development.


      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Collaborate with Principal Investigator and collaborators on developing and implementing cognitive neuroscience investigations into the relationship between music, reward and cognition in traumatic brain injury and multiple sclerosis.

      • Disseminate research findings to professional conferences and journals.

      • Develop and submit new grant applications as lead and co-investigator.

      • Contribute to ongoing clinical and basic research projects in the Principal Investigators’ lab.

      • Co-mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants.

      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.


      QUALIFICATIONS:
      REQUIRED:

      • Doctoral degree in basic or health sciences.

      • Research experience in psychology, human neuroscience or related disciplines.

      PREFERRED:

      • PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive science, clinical/health/rehabilitation sciences or related fields.

      • Experience/interest in analysis of behavioral and neuroimaging data using analysis software, for example, R, FSL, Freesurfer, Python.
