      Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioengineering and Medical Devices - IOR

      The postdoctoral researcher will support the research work of the Institute for Obesity Research (IOR). They must execute projects, publish scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals with high impact factors, ensure good visibility for the group and institution through presentations at national and international conferences. Additionally, they will assist undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty members and specialists. The researcher will also participate in calls to attract research funding for the IOR.

      Requirements:

      • PhD obtained in the last 5 years in a field related to medicine, biotechnology, molecular biology, or similar sciences.
      • Desirable research stay at a foreign university or 1 year of postdoctoral experience abroad.
      • Full-time dedication to research activities and excellent command of English (both oral and written).
      • At least two years of research experience, demonstrated through scientific outputs (at least 3 original articles as first author in Q1/Q2 journals, preferably within the last 2 years).
      • Experience in generating proposals for research funding, in the context of national and/or international calls.
      • Willingness to relocate to Monterrey (where most activities will take place) and conduct a research stay in Houston, USA.
      • In terms of disciplinary expertise, candidates should have confirmed experience (demonstrated through scientific production) in at least two of the following areas:
        • Identification of biomarkers for diagnosis and/or monitoring of metabolic diseases.
        • Development of devices for diagnosis and/or monitoring of metabolic diseases.
        • Experience handling biological samples (saliva, blood, urine).
        • Experience with animal cell culture.

      Responsibilities:

      • Development of a specific research project.
      • Support in the development of research projects of interest to the group.
      • Assist in training undergraduate and graduate students.
      • Provide support in other research projects where their skills are needed.
      • Assist in writing scientific articles and protocols to attract research funding.

      Expected Outcomes:

      • Publication of at least one Q1/Q2 scientific article as first author within one year.
      • Publication of at least one Q1/Q2 article as co-author, demonstrating their participation in other research projects.
      • Generate materials to write a research protocol for securing research funding.
      • Dissemination of knowledge through articles, patents, training of human resources, etc.
      • Participation in national and international conferences to share the developments generated.
