      JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in the research lab under the direction of Dr. Donghai Wang.

      Key job duties for the Postdoctoral Scholar include:

      • Participate in the research program to develop advanced materials for lithium and lithium-ion batteries

      • Publish results in reputed journals; prepare reports; present research in conferences

      • Write proposals to funding agencies

      • Mentor Ph.D., MS, and undergraduate students

      This is a limited-term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with an excellent possibility of re-funding.

      Education and Qualifications:

      • Ph.D., by the hire date, in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline.

      • Evidence of scholastic and academic excellence in the following areas of expertise:

        • Synthesis of inorganic and Organic Materials

        • Materials Characterization

        • Electrochemistry

        • Battery and Fuel Cell Technology

      • Evidence of leadership abilities

      • Excellent written/oral communication skills

      • Ability to work in a team environment
