What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze large genomic datasets to identify biomarkers of health and disease
- Develop machine-learning models to leverage insights into biological systems
- Collaborate with data scientists to harmonize microbiome analysis
- Provide consultation on study design, data analysis, and interpretation
- Prepare tutorials and provide training to scientists
What is Required (Qualifications):
- PhD degree in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field
- Proficiency with Python, R, and command line tools
- Experience with machine learning methods
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Understanding of next-generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatic tools
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of microbiome, oral, and/or skin biology
- Experience with Galaxy environment, high-performance computing, and data visualization tools
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research team
