      Req#: R-50967

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our 35,000 employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

In this cross-functional, and fast-paced work environment, you could learn and grow with us together. As a crucial member of our diverse and inclusive computational biology team, you will explore the cutting-edge computational methods, develop your skills in antibody/protein sequence and structural analysis and design, as well as machine learning/deep learning, to create novel and reliable design and selection protocols. Concurrently, you'll have the opportunities to evaluate your top designs in a wet lab setting, harmonizing both methodologies to continually refine the computational strategies. Through active collaboration with experts in protein engineering scientists, structural biologist, and biologists, you will have the full support towards developing creative solutions that extend the frontiers of existing knowledge and abilities in the field. Your success will directly contribute to greater efficiency towards the discovery of functional GPCR antibodies.

      Responsibilities

      • Literature review and investigation to identify key requirements on structure-based computational design for specific GPCR binding antibodies.

      • Develop pertinent computational methodologies and establish a streamlined pipeline enabling antibody design and ranking.

      • Create in silico screening strategies to filter and nominate antibody designs for experimental testing.

      • Execute these designs in wet-lab to evaluate the congruity between computational predictions and experimental results, with further optimization as needed

      • Present your research findings at pertinent conferences and publish in esteemed, peer-reviewed scientific journals.

This role will be embedded in Lilly’s Medicines Innovation Hub (MIH), which serves as leading-edge scientific unit working across all disease areas to identify and develop quality targets, hits, leads, and drug candidates.

      Basic Qualifications

      • PhD in Structural biologist, Computational biology, Bioinformation, or similar field.

      Additional Skills/Preferences

      • Scientific innovation as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.

      • Great communication skills, (oral and written), along with a proven record of presentations and publications.

      • Experienced in research of GPCRs family would be highly desirable.

      • Hands-on experience in wet-lab techniques, coupled with a willingness to undertake training for additional wet-lab support tasks.

      • Experienced in molecular dynamics, simulation, physics-based computations or similar. (In particular of Rosetta).

      • Exceptional collaborative skills are a crucial, as the role requires working closely with a multi-functional team.

      Additional Information

      • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.

About Eli Lilly’s Postdoctoral Scientist Program

When it comes to research and development, our goal is to discover and deliver innovative medicines that make life better for people around the world. It’s challenging, expensive and often filled with failure. But even when we fail, we advance medical science and understanding by learning more about diseases, biology, and chemistry – ultimately bringing new solutions one step closer to reality.

Over the course of our history, we have shed light on some of the toughest health care problems known to man – diabetes, heart disease, infectious diseases, neuroscience disorders, cancer and more. We could not pursue this without our research and development team.

Postdoctoral scientists help us continue this pursuit. During your experience you will get:

      • Top industry research experience

      • Mentoring by some of Lilly’s top scientists

      • Laboratory and classroom training and education to further your development

      • Collaboration and networking across dozens of postdoctoral scientists and other researchers
