      PPA Product Owner

Passionate about helping Britain achieve net zero?

Have you got experience as a product owner, in product development and delivery?

If so, we have an opportunity for a PPA Product Owner to join our team here at EDF!

      The Opportunity

EDF’s PPA (power purchase agreements) team is the market leader in buying power from renewable generators in Great Britain. Working within the renewables industry, we support renewable generators with a great route for selling their power, and ultimately aim to help new renewable generation get built.

As the PPA Product Owner, you will be instrumental in supporting our PPA team succeed at growing our portfolio of contracts and developing our digital tools.

This role is an interesting mixture of a digital Product Owner, alongside taking responsibility for the structure of the standard PPA ‘products’ that EDF signs with generators to buy renewable power.

You will be responsible for managing, prioritising and driving the change pipeline based on value and business needs, and will set a clear product roadmap to deliver value. You will need to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and be able to think commercially and holistically when making changes and decisions.

      Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary of £45,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives.

Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts and employee pricing.

Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, adjusting as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

      What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will work with the PPA Senior Managers and Head of PPA to agree and set the strategy for our propositions and product enhancements within a cross-functional and Agile environment.

To begin with in 2024, you will focus on playing the role of Product Owner within the important project we are carrying out (Project Gaia) to revolutionise our PPA systems. Run in an Agile manner, you will be instrumental in the delivery of custom-built systems for managing and pricing new PPA opportunities, and supporting the management and service of our contracts. This system is integral to the PPA team’s future success and a great opportunity to lead a system change workstream of this scale.

On a more enduring basis, your responsibilities will be twofold. You will define and prioritise the continued digital change needed for the success of EDF’s PPA team, to be delivered as part of an Agile product team. To do this, you’ll work closely with members of the PPA team to understand business needs and value the benefits of change.

You will also develop and manage the standard contractual PPA products that we negotiate and sign with generators to buy their renewable power and certificates, seeking to develop the contracting arrangements and technical offerings required for our long-term profitability and competitiveness in a rapidly changing marketplace. Balancing system functionality, processes, and commercial value impacts to deliver change at speed.

Recognising the evolution of the operating model and agile nature of the organisation the content and nature of this role may change over time. EDF is an inclusive employer, and although these roles are advertised on a full-time basis as standard, flexible working arrangements will be reviewed and considered in line with our flexible working policy.

      Who you are

This is a role that you will help to shape. You must be full of creativity, enthusiasm and have the ability to work independently. The UK energy market is highly competitive, and you will need to ensure EDF retains its strong market position.

We’re looking for a candidate with the following skills/experience:
      • Experience of Business Analysis or Product Ownership.
      • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills.
      • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills.
      • Experience and knowledge in software and systems.
      • Have a learning mindset and willingness to develop.
      • Experience in Agile / SAFe framework is desirable.
      • Experience in creating user stories, wireframes, and acceptance criteria is desirable.

      Closing date for applications: 24.07.2024
      Location: Flexible/Home working

Join us and together we can help Britain achieve Net Zero.
