      Job summary

      The Ridgeway Surgery is a high achieving and friendly training practice currently looking to recruit a forward-thinking and committed Practice Nurse, ideally trained in diabetic management or with an interest in training in diabetes. We need a minimum of 28 hours but will consider up to full time, 37.5 hours. We offer a highly supportive environment and an excellent reputation within the area. We are willing to support with diabetic training support for the right candidate.

      Main duties of the job

      The main duties of the role involve long term condition management clinics, cytology, immunisations, assessment, treatment, screening, and health education services and advice to patients on general health. We ideally would like a Practice Nurse with diabetic management experience or who has a an interest in training in diabetes.

      About us

      Our continually growing list size is currently just over 11700 patients and comprises 6 GPs, an ANP, a Specialist Nurse Practitioner, a Nurse Practitioner and a team of 3 other part-time Practice nurses plus an Assistant Practitioner and a full complement of support staff.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      - long term condition reviews and health management

      - immunisations, such as travel, baby, child and B12, routine

      - adherence to PGDs

      - cytology

      - wound care management

      - participation in team/clinical meetings

      - suture removal

      - venepuncture

      - 24 hr BP monitoring

      - ECGs

      - assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the Partners/PM

      - lead for Infection Prevention and Control for the practice

      - INR/Warfarin monitoring

      - home visits for housebound LTC reviews, flu/covid vaccinations if required

      - contraception advice as per protocols

      - maintain clinical records, ensuring accuracy

      - chaperone if necessary

      - request pathology eg for urine culture, swabs

      - participate in continued learning

      - patient health checks

      - ear syringing

      - urinalysis
