- Essential Qualifications for a Practice Nurse
- - Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
- - Recognised nursing qualification (e.g., RGN, RN Adult, or equivalent)
- - Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
- - Training in the following areas:
- Childhood & adult immunisations
- Cervical screening (smear tests)
- Wound care & dressings
- Infection control & health promotion
- - Chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension)
- - Minor illness management or independent prescribing (V100/V150)
- - Family planning and contraception (including coil and implant training)
- - Travel health and vaccinations
- - Phlebotomy skills
- Essential Experience:
- Experience working as a Practice Nurse in a GP surgery, primary care, or community setting
- Chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension)
- Vaccinations and immunisations (childhood, adult, and travel)
- Wound care and dressings, including post-operative care
- Cervical screening (smear tests) and womens health support
- Health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- - Managing long-term conditions and QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) requirements
- - Knowledge of GP clinical systems (e.g., SystmOne, EMIS)

Main duties of the job
Chronic Disease Management Support patients with conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension through regular reviews and education.Vaccinations & Immunisations Administer childhood and adult immunisations, travel vaccines, and flu jabs.
Wound Care & Dressings Provide expert care for wounds, ulcers, and post-operative dressings.
