Job Description

- Practice independentlyin accordance with the NMC code of conduct and with reference to practice guidelines, appropriately referring to GPs
- Ensurecontinuation of own personal and professional development facilitated by utilisation of clinical supervision networks
- Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols)with referral to general practitioners as necessary
- Provide assessment, screening treatment services and health education advice
- Travel vaccinations

- Request appropriate pathology tests to support patient diagnosis

- In participation with the practice manager, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care.

- Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, Family Planning Advice, dressing, wound care, suture removal and recording spirometry
- Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers and colleagues
- Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions
- Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and NHS
- A nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a general practice setting
- Prescribing qualification would be preferred
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications

Job summary
Ongar Health Centre are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic practice nurse to join our friendly team of 4 GP partners, 3 practice nurses, 1 HCA and a large administrative team. This is a fixed term maternity contract and is offered on a part-time basis, working 2-3 days per week for 6 months. Days can be discussed at interview.
The candidate will work as part of a team providing immunisation, wound care, screening andhealth education to patients registered with the practice.They will use their experience, knowledge,skills and qualifications to support effective management of patients with COPD, asthma, diabetes, tissue viabilityand other chronic long-term conditions.
