      Boroughbury Medical Centre has a dynamic, motivated and friendly team with a passion for education and development. We are a registered training practice and are actively involved in research. BMC is housed in modern, purpose-built premises, caring for a diverse patient population of over 47,000 patients across 3 sites. We have a very experienced and highly skilled clinical team of Doctors, ACPs, Practice Nurses, Paramedics, HCAs, Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

      Boroughbury Medical Centre is a modern day GP practice situated in the heart of the City of Peterborough with further bases in Paston and Werrington. We are a large, forward-thinking and innovative network with a passion for multidisciplinary team-working, we are a registered training practice with an active research portfolio. We are currently located across 3 premises, caring for a richly diverse patient community.

      We are seeking a Practice Nurse to undertake treatment room duties including wound care, ear care, cervical smears, immunisations and vaccinations, NHS Health Checks/primary prevention of cardiovascular disease, as well as long-term conditions management. Primary Care experience is desirable however, opportunities for career progression and all training and development will be made available to the successful candidate.

      Main duties of the job

      Now is a really exciting time to join General Practice Nursing, the role has grown and developed and many of our team are becoming clinical specialists in their areas of interest. General Practice Nursing includes (but is not limited to):

      • long-term conditions management (Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Atrial Fibrillation, Hypertension, Heart Failure)
      • family planning & women's health including cervical smears and contraception
      • minor illness assessment and advice
      • treatment room duties such as blood tests, electrocardiograms, ear syringing, injections
      • complex wound management including leg ulcers
      • travel health advice and vaccinations
      • child immunisations and advice
      • working with health inequalities, patients with homelessness, addiction, mental health, dementia and/or learning disabilities

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • BSc / BN Nursing
      • NMC Registered

      Desirable

      • Ideally some Primary Care / General Practice experience, although training will be given
