- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Interest in management of one or more of the following long-term conditions such as Diabetes, Asthma, Coronary Heart Disease, Hypertension COPD
- Support the Nurse Clinical Lead and Senior Nurse by developing clinical leadership in some areas with agreement by the Nurse Clinical Lead
- Create and add to care plans for patients with certain conditions such as leg ulcers, diabetes, asthma, avoiding unplanned admissions, dementia etc.
- Documenting all consultations and onward referrals appropriately within the clinical system.
- Following Safeguarding Adult and Child procedures as required including contributing to case conferences or documentation if required.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
- Ensure that medical records are completed at time of consultation and are accurate and that confidentiality is respected in line with surgery policy
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs. Ensure cleaning rotas are completed and signed for on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as per cleaning schedules.
- Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager
- Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
- Ordering of stock for nursing requirements as agreed within the nursing team
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A duty to advise GP(s) of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required. These may be on days you do not normally work, however you are expected to attend and will be paid overtime.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

- Experience of TPP SystmOne clinical system and Ardens

- Competent in basic nursing duties

Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward thinking registered Practice Nurse to complement our team at The Grove Medical Centre in Sherborne, Dorset.
The post is a permanent position. The vacancy is for 20 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be working within our fantastic Nursing Team, treating patients with a wide range of issues. A diploma in Diabetes management is essential. Experience of treatment room procedures such as wound management, immunisations and vaccinations and cervical smears are desirable.

The Practice holds regular in-house and multi-disciplinary meetings, including complex care, significant event meetings and educational sessions.
