- Processing repeat prescriptions on a daily basis.
- Dealing with prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including; GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff as well as reception/administration staff at the practice.
- Adding new patient medication.
- Communicating with new doctors in medication review protocols and practice formulary choices.
- Ensuring that all prescription queries are passed to the appropriate person as soon as possible for the relevant action.
- Summarising and reading code relevant information from patients clinical records into the practice computer system, working strictly in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol.
- Processing and managing all incoming correspondence including letters and electronic documents.
- Sorting the letters in preparation for scanning and workflow.
- Ensuring all current medication have relevant, current authorisations.
- Ensuring incoming correspondence about patients from hospitals is scanned, coded and attached to the correct medical record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- A clear and polite telephone manner.
- Respectful of patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and autonomously.
- Understanding of SystmOne preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience of clinical coding preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Job summary
Ongar Health Centre are looking to welcome an administrator for their prescriptions and clinical coding team on a part-time basis for 32.5 hours per week, working the following;
Monday 9am - 5pm
Tuesday 12pm - 5pm
Wednesday 9am - 5pm
Thursday 12pm - 5pm
Friday 9am - 5pm

We are a large, busy training practice, serving a patient population of 12,500 and operating from purpose built premises.We use Systmone clinical system and are rated Good with CQC.
