      Job summary

      We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Prescription Administrator to join our Pharmacy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing prescription requests, ensuring accurate medication records, and liaising with patients, GPs, and pharmacies to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of prescriptions.

      The role involves managing repeat prescription orders and assisting with any prescription-related queries. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of medical terminology, with previous experience in a similar role being an advantage.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will deal with routine repeat prescription requests in a timely and efficient manner.

      The post-holder will also perform routine and regular clerical administration duties as set out below. The post-holder will also be expected to respond to telephone calls on the Prescription team line.

      About us

      Our Practice is within a purpose-built Primary Care Centre in the heart of Nantwich with 20 clinical rooms and 1 operating suite on the ground floor from which with provide a minor surgery provision and an onsite Research Team.

      Nantwich is a charming historical market town, set beside the river Weaver, with excellent transport links with Manchester only an hour away by train, the beautiful city of Chester is a 45-minute drive away and the North Wales coast just over an hour away. Nantwich also has a number of excellent primary schools and two very reputable senior schools.

      We serve a population of circa 13,000 patients and our medical team comprises of 6 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 3 Practice Nurses, and 1 Health Care Support Worker and 2 Physiotherapists. We are part of Nantwich and Rural PCN and currently have ARRS roles in Care Co-ordinator, Nurse Associate, 2 Pharmacy Technicians, 2 Pharmacists and a social prescriber.

      We also have an onsite dedicated Research Team with 3 Nurses, Admin and three of our own GP Partners, with valuable research studies constantly ongoing there is always the opportunity to become involved in our research team.

      Kiltearn is also a GP training practice for F1, F2, ST Doctors and medical students. We also have Partners with an interest in coach mentoring, career conversation facilitating and as appraisers, one of our GP Partners is also the Education Lead for the PCN.

      Processing repeat prescriptions

      • To deal with medication queries from patients and staff in a professional manner, working within ones own capabilities and referring to the appropriate GP or Clinical Pharmacist in accordance with practice protocols when necessary.
      • To support the Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and reception staff in dealing with prescription requests and queries.
      • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation, processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
      • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare professionals and providers.
      • To take a proactive approach to the safe handling of prescriptions.
      • Helping to maintain a positive, patient focused culture.
      • Helping to maintain a positive, supportive culture across the whole of the practice team.
      • Any other duties commensurate with this position. Duties will vary from time to time under the direction of the Clinical Pharmacists and the Practice Manager, depending on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels, with discussion with the post-holder and other colleagues.
      • Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.

      In addition to the core responsibilities, the prescription team administrator may be requested to:

      • Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead
      • Book appointments as part of Medication monitoring e.g., a blood test of Blood pressure check.
