      Job summary

      We are currently recruiting for a Prescriptions Administrator to join our growing and enthusiastic team of administrators here at Ashfields Primary Care Centre in Sandbach. This role will be working with 7 other administrators to support the practice in keeping our patients safe and healthy.

      Main duties of the job

      To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.Duties can include but are not limited to, processing of information and assisting patients as required, processing prescription requests and monitoring of prescribing within the practice guidelines.To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.The role is a 24hr a week post across 3 days.

      Ashfields is a large GP Practice based in Sandbach looking after around 28500 patients. We have a cohesive Clinical and Administrative team to be able to provide a versatile and accessible service for all.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      The following are the core responsibilities of the role. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

      a. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

      b. Process paper, telephone and e-requests for prescriptions

      c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

      d. Signpost patients to the correct services

      e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

      f. Action incoming emails when necessary

      g. Order investigations to ensure safe prescribing

      h. Photocopy documentation as required

      i. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

      j. Support the management of care home patients

      k. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

      l. Carry out system searches as requested

      m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

      n. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

      In addition to the primary responsibilities, the medical administrator may be requested to:

      a. Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead

      b. Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences

      c. Booking, cancelling or reorganising patient appointments

      d. Attend team meetings as required.

      • Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent
      • GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)

      Desirable

      • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
