      Principal Building Inspector

      - Clerk Grade 9/10
      - Location: Parramatta
      - Temporary opportunity up to April 2025

      About the team

      A Temporary opportunity is available for a Principal Building Inspector within the Building Operations, Compliance for Building Commission NSW
      The Principal Building Inspector is responsible for managing a team of Building Inspectors involved in resolving residential building disputes and industry compliance to legislation. The role also undertakes complex technical building investigations and dispute resolutions.

      You will provide independent expert building advice and opinions to industry, community and branch as well as report to government on industry trends and concerns.

      To be successful in this role, the successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in:

      - Conducting complex dispute resolution and inspection activities to ensure and enhance compliance as per Home Building and other legislative requirements administered by the Department
      - Managing the coordination of proactive and targeted inspection activities and disputes; and
      - Providing advice to Management regarding significant issues, industry developments, critical milestones, and identification of options that contribute to the Department's regulatory plans.

      Key challenges


      - Managing a strategic approach to managing the often-competing demands for the planning, development and implementation of projects and advice tailored to support initiatives of the business within tight deadlines
      - Exercising sound judgement, sensitivity and appreciation of highly contentious and confidential matters
      - Managing a diverse and complex range of issues and be able to deal sensitively with enquiries from the Manager, Director and Executive Director.

      Essential requirements

      - Must hold or be eligible to obtain a full NSW builders licence
      - Must hold a current NSW drivers licence and be prepared to drive throughout NSW as required
