      Who we're looking for

Schroders aspires to be a data led organisation. We require a Principal Business Analyst to help us and our internal customers translate their data requirements into solutions within our Enterprise Data Platform. These requirements will focus on both platform and product features as well as the translation of non technical requirements into solutions such as Data Products. You'll be energised by variety as we service many different teams and will enjoy opportunities to make your mark on change and solutions in the data space.

      About Schroders

We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

      Technology at Schroders

There's a huge amount of change going on at Schroders. Technology's shaping our business more and more, so there are many opportunities waiting to be grabbed. And because we're a big financial player, we can put hefty backing behind good ideas.

We're a serious business – we have enormous responsibilities to our clients and shareholders. But just because we're suited and booted, that doesn't make us stuffy; our tech teams are friendlier and more informal than you might expect.

      The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

      The team

The Enterprise Data team works very closely with all Global Technology domains and most of our business functions. We provide services for others to consume such as Technical Data Platforms, Data Consultancy, Best Practice and Governance. As you would expect our subject matter specialisation is in Data whether that be Quality, Mastering, Analysis and Platforms as well as providing purely technical solutions for others. We are aligned around our skills and recognise that to match the agile demands on us we give our people the opportunity to work in different areas when the demand requires it. We exist to give Schroders an industry leading platform and processes to help the Firm become the best data driven organisation in the industry.

      What you'll do

As the Principal Business Analyst in the team, you will be accountable for triage of internal customer requests, providing written and data based analysis and inputting ideas into how we function as a team to ensure we drive informed business decisions. We encourage retrospectives to drive improvements so you will also play a part in that process.

The position no responsibility for direct reports at this time.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

      • Partnering with internal customers to create a data platform that provides for our data and business needs
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • A track record in converting complex requirements into process or technical specifications
      • The ability to understand or create technical solutions using SQL or Python
      • An understanding of any of the following industries: Wealth Management, Pensions & Insurance or Asset Management
      • An understanding of the importance of Data Governance.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

      • Ability to deal credibly with both business staff and technical users at all levels of the organisation, with strong senior stakeholder management skills
      • An understanding of software development and architecture principles
      • Experience of using visualisation technologies such as PowerSuite or Tableau
      • Experience of using a Data Catalogue tool such as Collibra
      • Strong understanding and experience of working within a data focused organization
      • Experience of working using both Agile and waterfall methods.

      What you'll be like

      • Inspiring and collaborative with all those you work with
      • Capable of remaining positive when under pressure
      • Friendly, approachable, enjoys working with people from a variety of backgrounds
      • Communicates with tact and sensitivity, mindful of how information may be received.
      • Ensures everyone is informed and relevant parties consulted
      • Comfortable facilitating and communicating using both business and technology terms.
      • Able to keep a potentially diverse set of participants engaged
      • Holds themselves accountable, demonstrates integrity and deals fairly with everyone
      • Lean-agile mindset: focusses on sustainable flow of value, making space for continuous improvement, building in quality, test hypothesis and assumptions as early as possible.

We recognise potential, whoever you are

Our purpose is to provide excellent investment performance to clients through active management. Diversity of thought facilitated by an inclusive culture will allow us to make better decisions and better achieve our purpose. This is why inclusion and diversity are a strategic priority for us and why we are an equal opportunities employer: you are welcome here regardless of your age, disability, gender identity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or any other protected characteristics.
