- Experience of supervising qualified and pre-qualified psychologists
- Experience of preparing highly complex assessment reports and formulations.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and young people, safeguarding, child protection and the mental health act.
- Experience of working in a child and adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit, including with patients sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
- Experience in providing interventions using DBT, trauma focused CBT
- Experience in providing interventions using DBT, trauma focused CBT Experience of running groups for patients and/or families
- Evidence of skilled and productive multidisciplinary team working
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
- Ability to identify research needs of the service and facilitate quality improvement projects.
- Ability to draw on a variety of approaches in the engagement of complex and hard to reach patient groups.

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a 43-month fixed term 0.6 wte Band 8b Principal Clinical Psychologist post on the Mildred Creak Inpatient Unit (MCU) within the Psychological and Mental Health Services (PAMHS). This role is to provide cover whilst the current post-holder is seconded into a NIHR funded research fellowship post.The MCU has 8 inpatient and 2 day-patient beds available for children and young people aged between 7-13 years of age presenting with severe and complex mental health difficulties. The postholder will join a multidisciplinary team which includes child and adolescent psychiatrists, child & adolescent psychotherapists, systemic psychotherapists and mental health nurses.
