      Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to come and work within the friendly and forward-thinking multi-disciplinary CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Conditions (ND) Team in Southampton and Portsmouth. The ND team provides services for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions, including assessment and diagnosis of autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); and psychoeducation and prescribing for ADHD.

This post is advertised at an exciting time for our ND services as we bring the Southampton and Portsmouth teams together as well as aligning our autism and ADHD service offers. The post offers an opportunity to join with our Lead Nurse for ADHD and our Team Manager for the ND team and be part of developing the ND offer in both Southampton and Portsmouth to effectively support more children and young people both within the ND team and across the CAMHS portfolio as a whole.

      Main duties of the job

CAMHS has a growing psychological workforce with a number of opportunities for service development and cross pathway/agency working within the Cities and across the Trust. We are looking for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to offer leadership, supervision and clinical expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions. The successful candidate will supervise other members of the wider psychology team as well as team members from other therapies and disciplines. We have close links with our partner agencies and there will be expectations of providing psychological consultation and training to professionals in other services as part of the role.

We are looking for a confident clinical psychologist who has a positive attitude and approach to change and a demonstrable track record of providing leadership, service development, high quality psychological assessments and interventions, and supervision. This position calls for a professional with significant experience of working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health difficulties. We are looking for a clinical psychologist who will share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families.

We offer an exciting and dynamic environment where your ideas and career development will be valued. The post holder will be supervised directly by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
