      Job Overview
      We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Android Engineer to help shape the future of the T Life App. In this role, you’ll work alongside a talented team of mobile developers to design, implement, and maintain high-quality Android features that meet both business and customer needs. You’ll focus on building scalable, performant, and secure mobile solutions that enhance the customer experience within the T-Life app and T-Mobile’s broader app ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Android development—including modern architecture patterns, testing strategies, and performance optimization—paired with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.       Job Responsibilities:

      Technical Engineering Services

      • Drives engineering projects and team members by developing software solutions; conducting tests and inspections; preparing reports and calculations. Expected to supervise base through senior level engineers as needed.

      • Presents project improvement scenarios to management for consideration.

      Technical Leadership

      • Monitor and influence relevant industry technologies and standards.

      • Present highly technical concepts to both technical and non-technical decision-makers.

      • Continuously learns, creates content, and teaches others specific subject areas.

      • Informally coaches and contributes to the development of others through mentoring or in house workshops and learning sessions. Develops engineers across functional teams on technology decisions.

      • Influence technology and policy decisions made across the VP organization.

      • Understand financial decisions, including NPV and ROI, based on customer experience/business drivers.

      Technology Strategy

      • Evaluates new and existing technology options that support business goals.

      • Understands current technology that supports business goals. Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Expected to independently develop a full software stack. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Independent study of current technology is expected. Interact with system engineers to define system requirement and/or necessary requirements for automation,

      Innovation

      • Develops, designs, and implements new ideas which utilize new frameworks to improve an existing or new system/process/service.

      • Investigative independent study and problem solving for non-routine tasks.

      • Analyzes existing processes and vendor roadmaps to highlight upcoming technology changes that would make the processes or tools more effective within a given VP function.

      • Contributes to the creation of company IPR.

      Technical Writing

      • Writes advanced documentation, architecture, capabilities, limitations, and advantages for technologies. Creates and modifies clear documentation for new code and systems used.

      • Documenting systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the director level.

      • Contributes to industry professional norms.

      • Contributes to the protection of company IPR.


      Education and Work Experience:

      • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Engineering (Required)

      • 7-10 years Technical engineering experience. Required


      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • 7+ years of experience in Android development.

      • Experience working on a significant consumer app that is currently available in marketplace

      • Strong understanding of OO design patterns and concepts

      • A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services

      • Solid understanding of Android app development life cycle including Google Play and Amazon App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements

      • Proficiency in Kotlin, Dagger, RxJava, Compose, Espresso, Git.

      • Android build tooling like Gradle, Proguard or similar.

      • Prioritizes writing maintainable code and creating a strong testing culture.

      • Experience with CI/CD tooling like Fastlane, Docker or similar.

      • Passion for learning new technical and business domains.

      • A pragmatic approach to delivering projects on time and safely, through well-scoped, phased deployments.

      • Focus on building positive relationships with partners through collaborative problem solving, and translation of requirements into future-facing solutions.

      Base Pay Range: $133,500 - $240,700

      Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

      The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

      At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
