      Principal Functional Architect

      Business Environment

      The APX (Airline Product eXpertise) teams regroup transversal Functional Architects (ex Solution Definition Managers) and Technical Architects around the world and are part of TRU-AIR-ENG division. The overall group is composed of several teams located in Dallas, Montreal, Nice, Bangalore and Singapour. We are working hand-in-hand with regional and business teams as well as with engineering teams to lead the most complex transversal activities/solutions.

      The Airline Product eXpertise (APX) group is the entry point for Airlines transversal services. We provide a functional and/or technical expertise and consolidate internal knowledge. Our team leads end-to-end solutions, with a customer-focused mindset and fosters a strong collaborative approach.

      Projects come from presales engagements, airlines competency centers and internal strategic projects/assessments. The team is also supporting customers in their operations, as well as Amadeus teams, when complex problems require transversal expertise.

      Anytime, APX group is bridging customers, Amadeus and even the industry together!

      About the role

      Common accountabilities:

      • Proficient in technical knowledge to ensure team performs at a high level. Is recognized as a leader in own area and may formally train Specialists/Senior Specialists.

      • Understands how main business drivers may impact on own area. Can assess complex problems with broad impact on the activity, improve processes, recommend solutions and risk mitigation plans. Able to communicate complex information.

      • Works with a high level of autonomy, based on management directions. Leads projects or contributes to broad cross-functional projects. May contribute to planning of resources and budget.


      Specific accountabilities:

      • Be responsible for the design of solutions within his line department and sometimes beyond,

      • Influence in SAFe at ART level

      • Interact with Product Managers or directly with the customers to ensure a full understanding of the business needs and customer constraints. Combine focus on customer expectations and integration of Amadeus strategy for any proposal,

      • Lead studies, analyze cross functional requirements, and other cross-organization, cross-functional solutions by interacting with all stakeholders (including architects, technical and functional experts, delivery teams...),

      • Understand how functions work and promote cross-business synergies and Amadeus vision via solution recommendations,

      • Contribute to break vision down into achievable actions while keeping global consistency and feasibility over areas,

      • Communicate progress on solutions and agreements at any stage of the mission within the core team,

      • Document and present solution recommendations to all stakeholders during solution review forums, with the ability to explain complex technical information in simple ways to a diverse audience,

      • Handover the solution, when validated, to SAFe organizations when entering development phase,

      • Advertise the role to attract new talents.

      About the ideal candidate

      • +5 years of experience in a similar role (Functional architect, Solution Definition Manager...)

      • Good knowledge of the Amadeus business would be appreciated

      • Adaptability & Flexibility

      • Excellent communication skills to interact with all the stakeholders, including the customers

      • Full professional proficiency in English is required. French would be a plus.
