- Lead technical delivery of integrations using Mirth Connect, with a focus on HL7, DICOM, and emerging standards like FHIR.
- Script, configure, and troubleshoot data flows across clinical systems to ensure accurate, secure, and timely information exchange.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating high-level designs into operational interfaces.
- Diagnose and resolve complex integration issues, optimising performance and maintaining high availability.
- Champion compliance and governance with healthcare regulations, maintaining documentation and data integrity at all times.
- Mentor and elevate the team, setting the standard for coding, testing and interface design, sharing knowledge on HL7, DICOM, JavaScript and Mirth Connect best practices.
- Extensive Integration Engineering Background
- A proven history of configuring and optimising Mirth Connect channels, employing JavaScript for HL7, DICOM, and potentially FHIR transformations.
- Familiarity with XML/JSON for message validation and data handling; experience with radiology systems (e.g. RIS/PACS) is a bonus.
- Modern Engineering Practices
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Python), agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).
- Experience with RESTful APIs is desirable, facilitating broader interoperability where needed.
- High-Performance & Reliable Data Flows
- Expertise in scaling solutions for large DICOM images or high-volume HL7 traffic, minimising disruption to clinical services.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- A track record of working effectively with clinical, architectural, and operational teams, integrating diverse insights into your designs.
- Mentorship & Coaching
- Demonstrable aptitude for guiding other engineers, offering best-practice code reviews and strategic advice on data mappings and interface structure.
- Security & Governance Awareness
- A solid understanding of healthcare data protection regulations, patient confidentiality standards, and how these impact system integrations.

Were looking for a Principal Integration Engineer to lead the design and development of robust clinical system integrations that directly enhance patient care and service efficiency. This is more than just a technical role - youll be hands-on with Mirth Connect, scripting JavaScript transformations, ensuring HL7 and DICOM workflows run smoothly, and working closely with clinicians, solution architects, and operational teams.
