      Primary Purpose:

      Direct and manage overall campus operations. Responsible for leadership of the campus instructional program ensuring high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, application of instructional programs, and effective operation of all campus activities to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

      Qualifications:

      Education/Certification:

      • Master’s degree in educational administration
      • CTE certification
      • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
      • Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

      • Working knowledge of CTE curriculum and instruction
      • Ability to evaluate CTE instructional program and teaching effectiveness
      • Ability to implement policy and procedures
      • Ability to interpret data and manage budget and personnel
      • Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

      Experience:

      • Three (3) years of teaching experience in CTE course(s), five (5) years preferred
      • Three (3) years of CTE leadership experience, five (5) years preferred
      • Two (2) years of educational campus administrative leadership experience, three (3) years preferred

      Major Responsibilities and Duties

      Instructional CTE Leadership

      • Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions where necessary.
      • Work closely with the CTE administrative team to interpret CTE data to drive current and future instructional and program planning.
      • Work closely with the CTE administrative team to ensure CTE staff and students are provided instructional resources, materials, and a master schedule needed to accomplish instructional goals to meet student needs.
      • Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
      • Solicit regular input from campus-level committees about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education program. Include students and community representatives when appropriate.
      • Monitor development and implementation of lesson plans.
      • Build a common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct community outreach activities and implement programs to ensure attainment of school’s mission.
      • Assume administrative responsibility and instructional leadership within district and state guidelines for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the CTE programs of the school.

      Human Capital

      • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal. Approve all personnel assigned to campus.
      • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences according to the designated appraisal system.
      • Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals.
      • Work with campus-level staff and CTE administrators to plan professional development activities for staff that are appropriate for their students’ instructional and behavioral needs.
      • Develop leadership abilities/capabilities/skills of assigned campus administrators.
      • Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional goals and strategies, and classroom management methods according to district expectations.

      Executive Leadership

      • Establish campus performance objectives for Academic Excellence Indicators using the campus planning process and involving CTE administration. Demonstrate campus progress using results to promote school improvement.
      • Provide opportunities for interactive communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
      • Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
      • Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools and school correspondence.
      • Participate in professional development activities to increase knowledge and improve job-related skills.
      • Support and communicate the vision of Alief ISD.
      • Abide by the Alief ISD Code of Civility.
      • Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
      • Oversee all programs housed on the campus.
      • Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
      • Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

      School Culture

      • Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in decision-making process. Build and maintain a positive campus culture for all.
      • Act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
      • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
      • Keep supervisor informed and ensure that school rules are uniformly applied, and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
      • Keep the supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor’s accountability.
      • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with all stakeholders.
      • Serve as a positive role model for all stakeholders to support the vision and mission of the school district.
      • Assure supervision at special events held to recognize student achievement and attend school sponsored activities and CTE functions
      • Create an inviting, risk free, supportive, and warm school climate that encourages optimal student development and achievement.

      Strategic Operations

      • Develop and administer campus needs assessment annually.
      • Develop and administer campus budgets based on documented program needs and estimated enrollment ensuring that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
      • Maintain and control the various local funds generated by student activities.
      • Oversee all reports, records, and other documents for management of assets.
      • Manage use of school facilities. Oversee maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
      • Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
      • Oversee campus improvement planning process.

      Other:

      • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
      • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
      • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
      • Perform other duties as assigned

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      Supervise all staff assigned to campus including assistant princial(s), teachers, couneslor(s), technology facilitator, clerical support staff, and custodians.

      Evaluation:

      Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

      Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard office equipment

      Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

      Motion: Frequent walking; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; ability to respond and attend to emergencies anywhere on campus in a reasonable time

      Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior

      Environment: Work inside, may work outside; exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel

      Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; work with frequent interruptions

      Pay Grade P07

      225 Days - Principal Middle School/Ninth Grade Center/Early College HS/Kerr HS -

      Min $101,295 Mid $122,874 Max $141,963

      Probationary/Term Contract - days dependent upon pay grade

      2024-2025 Salary Range – dependent upon pay grade and public school experience

      2025-2026 Salary s chedule with 3% of midpoint increase approved by the Board. Salary schedule soon to be released .
