Job Description

- To effectively liaise with Technology Managers and Project Managers to deliver on departmental objectives and goals.
- To generate robust mechanical mechanisms in line with product requirements, supported by sound engineering calculations and principles.
- To devise, develop and evaluate new product concepts, technologies, materials and processes.
- To provide informed and accurate information on development tasks that enables successful planning.
- To translate product requirements into technical and functional design requirements.
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 8 years minimum relevant experience in a technology or product development orientated company.
- 3 years minimum relevant experience in a similar Senior Engineer or Principle Engineer role
- Have been a driving force in the delivery of new products to market with demonstrable experience of such.
- Preference for experience in miniature level motors, drives, gearing and mechanisms.
- Extensive experience with Solidworks, both mechanical mechanisms and surface modelling.
- Experience in design FEA, both component and system level.
- Experience in appropriate material selection including calculation for load, stress, wear etc.
- Experience with design of moulded components.
- Good understanding in electro-mechanical interfaces and system control methodology with ability to communicate effectively around control issues.
- Ability to plan effectively and be accountable for delivering to plan.
- Proven analytical RCA skills and pays attention to detail.
- Demonstrable knowledge of DFM and DFS design techniques.
- Experience and understanding of ISO9001:2017 design and development process.
- Team player, able to motivate and communicate effectively.
- Emotional intelligence, being able to read and understand people’s situations and feeling and able to adapt your approach to facilitate the best outcomes.
- Resourcefulness. Able to find a way through issues and challenges when the way forward is not clear.
- Adaptability, ability to adapt and embrace differing concepts and design intent and work to deliver the best possible outcomes.

We are looking for a Principle Mechanical Engineer to Join our R&D team in Livingston, Scotland and help us in our journey.Your role:
As a part of the mechanical R&D team for upper limb prosthetics, you will be a Principle Mechanical Engineer involved in the conceptualization, detail design, development, and verification of electro-mechanical bionic limbs. You will play an integral part in the mechanical team, providing knowledge, expertise, and support across all functions with a focus on developing robust and innovative mechanical solutions that integrate seamlessly with electronics and controls. You will communicate effectively cross-departmentally around system level architecture and be a role model to other members of the team.
