- Configure and support a large-scale****** Linux Operation System, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Setup and manage high performance storage systems such as Qumulo, Pure Storage
- Install Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure hardware and the Prism Central/Prism element management technology
- Manage Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) to support complex server environment
- Design and maintain Infrastructure automation scripts such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Saltstack
- Design, deploy and manage multiple virtual environments at the large-scale level by using VMware vRealize suite such as vRealize Operation, vRealize Log Insight and vSphere
- Experience leading team members on installing Security toolsets such as Trellix, Tenable, Redcloak and Cisco AMP agents

MISSION:
DEFINITION:
To advance the health of our patients and our communities by providing extraordinary care.
Provides technical leadership or supervision of work involving complex operating systems and associated software, hardware and servers, including midrange or mainframes hosting critical applications in a high-availability environment. These environments require formal change management and problem resolution procedures and comprehensive back-up and recovery solutions.Leads or supervises the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of server or mainframe-based software and services such as communications services, database management software, compilers, storage management solutions, network monitoring and management solutions, messaging systems, and security systems.
Provides technical consulting on long-range information systems planning and business continuity planning.
Provides technical leadership or supervision and participates in the work of a team of Operating Systems Analysts engaged in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of hardware, operating systems, and associated system software.
Provides technical expertise to project managers, department management, and/or user management regarding one or more major system development, implementation, or maintenance efforts and advises management on technical alternatives, such as tools, platforms, utilities, and servers.
Analyzes performance data and conducts capacity planning. Solves the more complex system configuration and performance problems.
Assists in design and selection of disaster recovery solutions and leads implementation in a specific area of responsibility.
Analyzes and resolves the more complex system anomalies and operational problems.
Collaborates with application development, systems staff, network engineering and operations, and security staff to determine hardware and operating system requirements.
Establishes quality assurance procedures and leads the development and maintenance of system documentation and operational procedures.
Leads the development of department-wide policies, procedures, and documentation to improve overall server, disaster recovery and business continuity management as assigned.
Represents the department in collaborative efforts with other County departments, outside agencies, and/or vendors as assigned.
Ensures system security as described in policies and procedures.
Acts as an expert consultant or specialist in System improvements, analysis and design and research on state of art server/storage infrastructure technologies.
Assists in creating Statements of Work (SOWs) for services such as installation, configuration, data center upgrades, and security assessments as assigned.
Performs risk assessment and impact analysis of vendor-provided patches and upgrades and recommends implementation accordingly.
Creates and maintains job control language and/or custom scripts as assigned.
Coordinates and works with vendors to develop and implement solutions to specific problems or to meet specific objectives.
Programs the most specialized and complex operating systems customizations as assigned.
Serves as a project manager as assigned.
Responsible for the architecture, design, and management of enterprise class storage systems, as assigned.
Monitors vendors to ensure performance according to project goals and contract terms, and reports performance problems to management.SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
Option I: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, and four (4) years of recent*, progressively responsible**, full-time*** experience in a centralized Information Technology organization****, configuring, analyzing, and maintaining complex systems, including configuring, planning, coordinating, and implementing releases, upgrades, or changes to operating systems, servers, and related software, two (2) years of which must be in a complex server environment***** with formal change management, problem resolution procedures, and back-up and recovery plans.
Option II: Five (5) years of recent* full-time*** experience in a centralized Information Technology organization**** configuring, analyzing, and maintaining complex systems, including configuring, planning, coordinating, and implementing releases, upgrades, or changes to operating systems, servers, and related software, two (2) years of which must be in a complex server environment***** with formal change management, problem resolution procedures, and back-up and recovery plans.

****Centralized IT organization is defined as that which is responsible, under the direction or guidance of the Chief Information Technology official for the department or major organization unit, for providing comprehensive IT services including analysis, design, acquisition, and/or development, implementation, maintenance, or support of information systems; and in which the work performed is in direct relationship to the IT requirements and initiatives of the department or major organization unit.
*****Complex Server Environment is defined as a multi-layer server infrastructure providing comprehensive compute, storage and related server activities and services to support business requirements. The activities and services include but are not limited to data storage management, compute administration, interface integration, application/software management, data protections and system lifecycle management.
******A large-scale system is one that supports multiple, simultaneous users who access the core functionality through some kind of network.
Example: Led the implementation of an Electronic Health Record system or a solution that is critical for the delivery of patient care across multiple hospitals and clinics in a public or private health care organization.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative form of transportation to perform the job-related essential functions of the position.
PHYSICAL CLASS II - Light:
This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Also acceptable, if appropriate, are degrees that have been evaluated and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from United States accredited institutions by an academic credential evaluation agency recognized by The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of two (2) parts:
Part I: An evaluation of your education, experience and desirable qualifications based on your application information weighted 50%.
Part II: An Appraisal of Promotability designed to evaluate the applicants Adaptability and Dependability, Analytical and Decision Making Ability, Knowledge and Skills, Management and Administrative Ability, Planning and Organizational Skills and Problem Solving weighted 50%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each weighted part of this examination in order to be added to the eligible register.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be added to the eligible register accordingly.
The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Appointees may be required to work any shift , including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
