Job Summary
The Principal Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure that Absa Bank Botswana Limited Staff Pension Fund is governed and managed in accordance with the Rules and existing legislation, and in accordance with corporate governance standards and best practiceJob Description
At least 5 years’ experience in Pension Administration, compliance, and knowledge of relevant regulations is also essential. A Principal Officer should possess the following competencies:
· Understand Retirement fund management, investment principles, and financial markets.
· Stay updated on pension laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
· Manage accurate and precise record-keeping for pension accounts and transactions.
· Effectively communicate with Pension plan members, beneficiaries, and regulatory authorities.
· Evaluate Pension data, trends, and performance to make informed decisions.
· Provide assistance and support to Members of the Fund with inquiries or concerns.
· Use Retirement Funds administration software and tools efficiently.
· Address issues related to Retirement plans and find practical solutions.
· Uphold high ethical standards, especially when handling sensitive financial information.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues, auditors, and other stakeholders.
· Stay flexible in handling changes in Retirement Funds regulations or organizational structures.
Keep abreast of industry trends and changes in Retirement Funds legislation
Qualifications: Degree in the disciplines of Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Sciences, Business Administration, or any other relevant discipline is a requirement.
· Professional Certifications: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Certified Pension Specialist (CPS) or related certification would be an added advantage.
