- A PhD in immunology, biochemistry, and/or immuno-oncology, with at least 8 years of post-doctoral experience.
- Strong background in bioengineering to modulate immune function.
- Program leadership experience including the mentoring and managing of junior scientists.
- Mastery of molecular techniques with a relevant focus on protein engineering towards biological function.
- Ability to independently design and implement research plans for one or more programs.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and collaboration skills.
- Understanding and application current gene editing techniques including CRISPR, ZNFs, etc.
- Experience in the generation, analysis, and interpretation of high-dimensional analyses (flow cytometric, bulk and/or scRNA seq).
Introduction to Role:
AstraZeneca is on the lookout for a dynamic and innovative Principal Scientist to join our Immuno-Oncology Discovery team in Waltham, MA. This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that is at the forefront of designing, testing, and developing biologic therapeutics. As a Principal Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Immuno-Oncology projects through the drug discovery process, leading novel drug discovery programs from inception, and delivering datasets that directly impact pipeline programs.
Accountabilities:
In this laboratory-based position within the Immune Cell Circuits and Engagers group, you will develop, conduct, and analyze experiments to assess the function of our candidate biologic therapies. You will design novel therapeutics targeting the immune system for cancer therapy and help to dissect their mechanism of action. You will also review emerging literature and internal data to help in identifying new potential targets and contribute to target validation activities.
