Role Title: Principal Strategy Manager, Corporate Development
Location: Newbury / London, Paddington
Role Purpose...
To lead all Corporate Development activity for Vodafone Business, both providing a centralised assessment of all acquisition activity driven by Vodafone Markets, and leading programmatic M&A as part of the execution of Project Newton.
- Create standardised procedure for the full & thorough assessment of any M&A activity driven by our markets, reviewing technical capability, company skills, financial viability etc resulting in valuation and final recommendation to VB CEO and CFO
- Identify targets that would accelerate the execution of the plans set out in Project Newton, particularly around managed services and security operations
- Drive full assessment of target accounts (technical, financial, skills etc) in order to establish suitability of target and ultimately establish a target price
- Lead cross-functional teams through the due diligence process to deliver acquisition transactions
- Develop and deliver for Group Enterprise Finance and Group M&A the valuation model for each transaction
- Work with Group M&A to drive negotiations and execute transaction
- Plan and execute most merger integration activity to ensure that maximum value is obtained from the acquisition

- Oversee all Corporate Development activity that may be initiated by our markets, ensuring full alignment to Vodafone Business strategy
- Ensure acceleration of Vodafone Business ambitions through corporate development activity
- Responsible for the identification and screening of suitable inorganic target companies in conjunction with the Enterprise Business Units; co-develop with Head of Enterprise M&A the strategic and financial acquisition rationale and make Vodafone ExCo/Board recommendations
- Accountable for the development and definition of the acquisition business cases to ensure Vodafone value creation potential
- Manage cross-functional Vodafone teams (Legal, Tax, HR, Finance, IT, Networks, etc) and external advisors through the M&A governance process to deliver successful transactionsIt would be nice if you have...
- Significant experience in strategy formulation within IT, telecoms or the applications industry and across a variety of business areas
- Experience of M&A transactions of private and public companies worth €100m or higher
- Strong influencing, people management and emotional intelligence skills. Be resilient to lack of engagement from stakeholders. Proven ability to influence at all levels and disciplines within the company
- Ability to manage virtual teams where no direct line of reporting may exist and project priorities may not align with local priorities
- Highly numerate and excellent at decomposing, structuring and solving diverse problemsWhat's in it for you...
