- Proven track record of handling fast paced environment with skill at focusing complex asks down to clear, aligned work and project plans.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a color matching lab, preferably with inks and screen printing experience.
- Strong understanding of color theory and color space (CIELAB, CIELCh), and instrumentation for color and gloss measurement required. Ability to visually assess color match required.
- Travel around 5-10% as needed. This is not a remote work position.
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $148,200 and $223,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

As a Printing Engineer in the Advanced Process Lab within Manufacturing Design, you will lead print color development trials from initial color match to color tuning DOEs on production scale equipment. Working in our Silicon Valley lab, this is a very hands on position working with our ink suppliers within your own lab.Key QualificationsDescriptionYou will be responsible for delivering screen printing on glass . Work with your counterparts in Coatings SME, Product Development and Industrial Design to define color targets and matching trials. Coordinate suppliers on site to assist, implement trial plan and communicate out results for alignment on next steps. Continually coordinate with Coatings SME and suppliers for process development trials.When running trials, hands on personally operating the equipment in all aspects of mixing inks, running the screen printers, ovens and clean up. Receives and reviews work submitted for color development; checks for CCD readiness, adjusts screen printing process controls for ink thickness, print quality; prepares mesh materials for printing, fixture adjustments; measures ink thickness, calibrates curing ovens. Tests samples for ink thickness, assists in color measurements and inspects overall quality. Monitors shelf life of the inks and additives, viscosity, filtration, and ink mixing equipment operation to assure quality standards are met. Completes printing trials and time sheets and denotes materials used. Ownership of lab space, ordering all materials, equipment and scheduling of use.Education & ExperienceTechnical degree or equivalent experience in Printing Technology, Chemistry, Materials, or related field.Additional RequirementsPay & BenefitsAbout the company
