      This position, as a PRN MRI Technologist, provides state of the art care to all patients by performing technical work involving the operation and maintenance of magnetic resonance equipment. This professionally trained person will be responsible for producing magnetic resonance images of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established practices and procedures. This position requires working directly with Radiologists and patients, and operating the MRI and associated equipment. This position requires advanced technical knowledge and the ability to communicate and interact with the department radiologists in regard to MRI sequences and protocols. This position, in addition to superb technical skills, will also require the ability to follow Imaging Associates’ service commitments to customers and fellow staff.

      Procedures: Maintains and assures safe MRI environment and associated equipment. This includes critical patient screening procedures prior to performing MRI scans and screening other personnel entering the MRI magnet or patient exam room. Operates Magnetic Resonance Imagers, flow regulated injectors, UPS systems, patient monitors, Radiology Imaging systems, Picture Archiving Systems, I-Stat and other associated Imaging equipment. Performs a variety of technical procedures according to national standards. Performs MRI examinations according to physician order and written policy, using sophisticated equipment. Utilizes knowledge and judgment in regard to imaging factors, imaging technique and patient care needed to produce optimal images.

      Documentation: Responsible for accurately completing records, daily quality assurance and improvement information, meeting regulatory standards.

      Equipment: Calibrates, maintains and troubleshoots equipment. Optimizes equipment and supplies to benefit operations.

      Supplies and Inventory: Stocks work area daily. May be involved in ordering and stocking general supplies.

      Safety and Education: Complies with national radiation standards (ALARA) and MRI Safety Principles. Completes education necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for position.

      Communication: Communicates with physicians and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, or related information. Operates multiple communication and telecommunication systems. Coordinates scheduling for diagnostic exams. Communicates with team members by regular participation in staff meetings.

      Implements care/service that recognizes age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.
