If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become a key player in preparing clients for successful re-entry into society as a Probation/Parole Officer 2 at the Iowa Department of Corrections.

      As a Probation/Parole Officer 2 you will be a direct service provider, engaging in high-contact interactions with clients who are court ordered to the residential facility. The clients will be on supervision for probation, 321J OWI 3rd program, Board of Parole approved for work release, or a parolee in residence. You will play an essential role in eliciting and supporting pro-social behaviors, with a focus on programming that fosters personal growth and reduces the risk of reoffending.

      We value initiative and independent judgment, and you will be part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to observe and assess client behaviors and interactions. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to build quality relationships with clients will be essential in driving positive change.

      Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks such as assessment of risk and incorporating assessments into case management practices. Employee is responsible for collaborating with client support systems and treatment providers to establish a framework of supportive services and development of Interstate Compact Offender Tracking System (ICOTS) You'll be trained to employ effective behavior change techniques, such as motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral strategies, to facilitate lasting transformation.

      Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

      1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field.
      2. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in a human services or criminal justice field, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
      3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 1.
