      Job Purpose and Impact

      The process automation engineer will be part of a team of five specialists. This team manages all aspects of the process automation systems on-site. The activities include:

      • execution of projects: from drawing up functional and/or technical specifications, in close collaboration with the production department, to jointly putting software developed into operation.
      • implementation of modifications: programming, testing, commissioning of software adjustments associated with changed insights or changes to the installations.
      • Management tasks for both software and hardware systems.

      Within the position you will regularly fulfill the role of project leader, but you must also be able to work 'hands-on' on the Simatic PCS7 process control systems. You are an important bridge between engineering, system integrators and production.

      Key Accountabilities

      • Apply general knowledge of principles, terms, and practices of automation engineering to support the design and build of safe and reliable operations.
      • Coordinate and provide direct support and delivery of services for an operation.
      • Execute and support automation engineering standards and deliverables in capital projects.
      • Monitor and support progress for projects with low to medium levels of complexity and ensure appropriate resource allocations and portfolio prioritization.
      • Implement, monitor and track audit control mechanisms within area of scope to track performance and provide actionable solutions that contribute to improvements.
      • Support more senior team members to assess automation engineering development and application opportunities and further dissemination across common practice areas.
      • Support, analyze and develop conclusions regarding areas of improvement and identify opportunities to improve performance and determine acceptable risk tolerance.
      • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
      • Minimum of two years of related work experience
      • Other minimum qualifications may apply

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Intermediate project management skills
      • Strong technical and mathematical skills
      • Demonstrated working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
      • Experience with Simatic PCS7
      • Willing to particiapte in an on-call service for automation systems (6-week schedule)
