- You will research and development into advanced nuclear fuel fabrication processes.
- You will be defining product specifications and requirements.
- You will be defining the safe operating envelope and normal operating range for fuel manufacture process, eliminating hazards and incorporating inherent safety through process chemistry design.
- You will be defining safe and effective process chemistries in order to meet the required product specifications and plant throughput.
- You will be facilitating laboratory trials and R&D to provide quantitative data of underpinning science to support fuel design, Safety Case substantiation, hazard analysis and fault analysis.
- You will be defining the analysis requirements, techniques, sampling plans and control charts for plant production and quality.
- You will be involved in all design stages from identification of stakeholder requirements, generating and assessing options, Concept, Scheme, Front End, and Detailed Design, design substantiation and verification and validation, and installation, commissioning and operating documents.
- Chemical expertise input into reviews including design, quality, safety and environmental assessments and critical review, checking, verification and approval of in-house and third-party designs.
- Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline or equivalent,
- Post-graduate qualifications,
- Experience in nuclear fuel processing and fabrication.

You will be responsible to advance the Chemistry and underpinning science for the development of next generation of nuclear fuel as part of the UK nuclear fuel cycle (Civil Nuclear: Roadmap to 2050). Contribute to research and innovation in new and advanced nuclear fuels to improve fuel safety, efficiency and quality.
Your main responsibilities involve, providing technical advice to the Nuclear and Chemical Process engineering functions for the design requirements and process chemistries. The role will support the definition of equipment specifications, laboratory trials, analysis techniques and product quality requirements.
The role involves the identification and evaluation of new technologies, primarily focusing on developing safe and effective process chemistries in order to meet the required product specifications and plant throughput.
