Basic Job Functions:
Nucor-Yamato Steel Company is one the most modern, efficient, and technologically advanced steel mills in the world which produces wide flange steel beams, pilings and heavy structural steel objects designed for large constructions projects. We are seeking to hire a Process Control Engineer for full-time employment at our manufacturing plant located at 5929 East State Highway 18, Blytheville, AR 72316. The offered engineering position supports the continuous development of innovative steel products and improvement of existing steel production practices. Duties include: utilizing engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to troubleshoot and improve both the process and equipment and to develop/implement future improvement plans; Design, integrate, develop, and implement tools and technologies for use in automation and robotics; Design and develop, and implement control systems (hardware & software) to improve production times, steel quality, equipment performance, energy consumption, down-time reduction, and process automation; Troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, upgrading, and supporting Nucor-Yamato's automation, power distribution HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) and data systems; Work with teammates to solve issues, troubleshoot, develop process improvements and implement projects; Write requirements, specifications, and high-level design and systems architecture specifications related to control of steel production processes; Analyze, modify and improve programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI); Design and monitor performance indicators and create the necessary bridges between the control site and company information systems; Provide on-going maintenance support and resolution of process control system problems, including taking ownership of such problems until completion; Assist in the optimization and improvement of the industrial plant process control solutions to meet business requirements; Recommend, specify, engineer, and implement electrical control and automation upgrades to improve process control steelmaking. Minimum Requirements:
A qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, automation engineering, or a related engineering field and five years of engineering experience in automation, process control, or electronics engineering with at least three of those five years in a steelmaking facility. Candidates must also have experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI) software and hardware, motor controls and variable frequency drives, high voltage distribution systems and other automation technologies.
Detailed Selection Criteria:
The position pays an annual salary of $130,000.00 per year plus additional weekly compensation through the company’s production bonus percentage plan. The position is further eligible for standard corporate benefits, such as medical insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement savings, profit sharing, tuition reimbursement, vacation, and other standard corporate benefits.
